Ontario Coating Company – Custom Locking Snap Hook Solution

Customer: A coating company in need of a specialized hook solution for their operations.
Challenge
The customer urgently needed a custom “snap hook” (or “locking hook”) to fit their custom coating system. These hooks needed to:
- Lock securely onto a round bar to prevent swinging or movement.
- Fit tightly around most suspension systems and rods.
- Hold parts firmly in place during the coating process.
The customer had no information on where their previous batch of hooks had been sourced and only had a rough hand-drawn sketch of the design. Faced with a tight deadline, they turned to ACR Hooks for help.
Solution
Despite never having made this specific style before, we saw an opportunity to expand our catalog and meet the customer’s needs. The rough drawing provided was all we needed to start. Using their sketch, we:
- Modified our tooling to create the precise tight bend required for the snap hook to securely attach to a 3/16-inch round bar.
- Designed the rest of the hook to match the dimensions and functionality described in the drawing.
- Produced a prototype the same day the drawing was received.
Results
The prototype reached the customer the very next day. After reviewing the design, they approved the hook and placed an order for 2,000 units. We quickly moved into production and shipped the full order just two days later.
This solution met the customer’s urgent needs while demonstrating our ability to design and manufacture high-quality, custom solutions on tight deadlines.
