Challenge:
A powder coating facility in Ontario required a non-standard S hook with a square-style geometry designed specifically for their automated racking system. The hooks were originally sourced from outside of Canada, but the customer sought faster lead times, improved pricing, and a Canadian-made option. No drawings were provided—only physical samples—and the hook needed to match both the rack interface and the components being coated.
Solution:
Our team reverse-engineered the sample hooks, capturing the unique geometry and angles required for proper fitment on the customer’s racking system. Prototype samples were produced and delivered within a short turnaround for testing.
Results:
The customer confirmed that the reproduced hooks fit their automated racking system and production parts with no modifications required. Full production followed, and this hook is now stocked and supplied on a recurring basis to support their coating operations.
